Are there any Oppo’s within a few hours of me? I am in Prince George BC. There really ain’t a whole lot in any particular direction from here but most especially on Highway 16 headed east it is particularly desolate. On the way here I drove over 130 miles and saw about 10 other vehicles.

That’s got to be one of BC’s loneliest roads. There is just trees trees and more trees.

655 miles, that’s a little too far for me and I’m about 60 miles from the Canadian boarder.

Yeah. Too bad I never made it up to northern Quebec. Only ever made it as far as maniwaki.

From my house to my new house was actually less than this. It was 2100 miles or something but still very very very far.

I actually still see lawns. This is unusual for us.

That is literally called the Highway of Tears.

No it’s not. The highway of tears is only the western section of the highway in BC starting somewhere west of Vanderhoof. I’ve been as far west as Vanderhoof, and there’s not any of the don’t hitchhike signs even that far.

Ah your right, typically its Prince Rupert to Prince George I think but Vanderhoof isn’t far off. There is a few Oppo’s in Vancouver, I’m a ways off now.

Why would anyone willingly move to the rainiest place in Canada?

Besides the scenery... or the total lack of winter.... or the empty, winding roads.... never mind me then... carry on.

Also the fact that it’s dry here and we have winter. Prince Rupert is the rainiest place in BC. This part of BC is drier and colder. The roads are fun. Like I said. 210 kms...10 cars.

I used to live in Yellowknife. The drive down the NWT road 1 into Alberta road 3 5 is a long and lonely drive. If done in the winter, early in the morning, you may be the only car on the road once your past Rea Edzo (northern Great Slave Lake). Once you get past high level, the other ~800km (500 miles) are typically full of people. All told it’s a 1500km (950 mile) drive one way.

Also, I always confuse the two. Sorry, I spent most of my life on the other cost.

Yeah I could imagine. I would love to go see the territories one day. It is deceptively far from here (even though we are on the 54th parallel) because to go on BC 97 you drive all the way east then all the way back west to go to whitehorse. I could imagine it’s lonely up there as well.

I have only been to Whitehorse once, but the roads up there are typically a little busier, due to it being a route into Alaska. Beautiful place though, I do recommend a trip in the summer.
